South Harting concert in memory of reverend's wife

A concert in memory of Margo Williamson, who was the wife of the Rev Roger Williamson, rector of Stedham with Iping, is to be held at St Mary and St Gabriel Church in South Harting.

And it will bring together four school directors of music – three of whom are from the Midhurst area.

"After my wife Margo's death from cancer in 1999, my sons Simon and Edward organised two concerts in her memory in aid of cancer charities, one at Harting Parish Church and one at Milton Abbey in Dorset," said Mr Williamson.

"Five years later, they arranged another concert in Harting Church in aid of Macmillan Cancer Relief Midhurst.

"I am delighted they have decided to organise another concert and this time the proceeds of the retiring collection will be shared between the Macmillan Fund and Harting Church Law Appeal."

The concert takes place on Saturday (July 4) at 7.30pm.

It will feature English choral music with 'American seasoning'.

Simon, now director of music at Wellington College, will be directing the choir and the accompanist on the organ will be Nick Gleed, director of music at Bedales.

Edward, who is director of music at Ditcham Park School, will be singing tenor and providing some of the arrangements.

Also singing tenor will be Ben Gudgeon, director of music at Churcher's College in Petersfield.
