TWO sisters will go head to head to be in with a chance of being named Miss England.
Bognor Regis sisters Kate and Kim Fletcher have both got through to the Miss England semi-finals on Monday.
They are competing to be in with a chance to go through to the finals in June.
Kim, 23, won her place by entering the regional round for Miss Sussex and will be competing as Miss Chichester. She said: “Taking part in Miss England is a honour and it is a privilege to compete against such great young women.”
Kate, 21, who gained her place after entering the regional round of Miss Kent will be competing as Miss Canterbury, she said: “It’s nothing I’d ever thought I would be able to do, but its been so much fun, meeting new people and raising money for amazing charities.”
Over the last two months they have both thrown themselves into the ‘beauty with a purpose’ section collecting £5,000 for charity. They have taken part in car washes at the Crystal Palace Stadium, done cake sales and car boots. They have even got into the fast lane and driven Sport Legend Cars – courtesy of Mithril Racing at Goodwood race track.
Their fundrasing continued today as they attended Fontwell Race Course armed with buckets.
For the pair it is not about winning but supporting each other.
Kate said: “I don’t think of it as competing against her, instead its more of a support network to have her there. No-one else has got that instant support from another person.”
Kim added: “It’s nice to know I have someone with me and we can support and help each other with wardrobe malfunctions and have a giggle together.
If one of us got through and the other didn’t I know both of us would be genuinely happy for each other.”
