KEEPING quiet allowed pupils at a Bognor Regis school to benefit charities.
A sponsored silence at Southway Primary School led to £1,400 being raised for Chestnut Tree House children’s hospice and Cancer Research UK.
The silence was held by the school council, made up of pupils from different year groups.
They told Tracey Bowdray, who attended the presentation party for the hospice: “The original idea came from some Year-6 pupils who were keen to raise money for our local charities.
“The whole school took part in the event, which was a huge success and we are delighted to be able to present you with £700 for your wonderful charity.”
