A COLLISION has closed a Bognor Regis road for several hours.

Hillsboro Road was closed to traffic this morning (Wednesday, July 30) between its junctions with the A259 Chichester Road and Linden Road following a serious road traffic collision.

A 20-year-old man on foot, believed to be of East European origin, and a white Hyundai car, were in collision at 8.48am.

The man was left unconscious, and as the Observer went to press Sussex Police said he has serious, potentially life-threatening head injuries.

The Kent, Surrey and Sussex air ambulance landed at nearby Hampshire Avenue recreation ground and the man was airlifted to Southampton General Hospital.

The car driver was shocked but unhurt.

Anyone who saw what happened or who noticed the car or pedestrian shortly before the collision is asked to phone Sussex Police on 101.

Alternatively you can email collision.appeal@sussex.pnn.police.uk, quoting Operation Aldham.
