RESIDENTS voiced their anger against plans for an incinerator in Ford.
MP for Bognor Regis and Littlehampton Nick Gibb joined villagers and local councillors to demonstrate against the plans for former Tarmac Topblock site on the Ford Airfield Industrial Estate.
Today’s (Friday, January 17) protest was held to show the area’s strength of feeling against the plans put forward by Grundon Waste Management.
Grundon plans to burn a mixture of waste materials, including plastics and has already been given a certificate of lawfulness to store waste at the site.
It needs permission from West Sussex County Council to build an incinerator and produce energy.
Under the plans, Grundon would transport 250,000 tonnes of waste to the site a year.
Ford Parish Council organised the event outside the Flying Fortress, which is metres away from where the proposed incinerator and waste recycling plant would be built.
The 28 residents told Mr Gibb about their concerns regarding HGV traffic, air pollution as well as noise and disturbance.
