A SPECIAL prayer was said at a Pagham church service for Christian women overseas.

More than 80 worshippers took part in the annual women’s world day of prayer.

The focus of the 2014 service was the Christian women of Egypt as the country experiences turbulent times.

The upheaval prompted speaker Eileen Rhodes to gain approval to depart from the internationally agreed order of service.

Area secretary Janet Tapping said: “Because Egypt is in such a difficult situation, she interjected a special prayer for the country and talked about conditions there.”

The service is held around the world on the first Friday of March.

“There are characters who stand up during the service and talk about their lives,” said Janet.

“This year, we had an office worker, a housewife and a woman who was trying to get a business going.”
