ORGANISERS of the world’s oldest pram race are to get national publicity for this year’s race in Pagham on Boxing Day.
Welsh comedian Rhod Gilbert has interviewed organising committee chairman Tim Holland for his Radio 2 show to go out that afternoon.
The show will focus on Boxing Day eccentricities.
By then, dozens of teams will have raced three miles around Pagham in fancy dress with prams.
They will start at Nyetimber Mill, in Pagham Road, at 11am and end at The Lamb, further south on Pagham Road.
Along the way, they will sink pints at The Bear, The Lamb and the King’s Beach Hotel as the racers have done every year since 1946.
Mr Holland said: “The pram race is timeless. The concept is simple. People get hold of a pram and then just turn up and go.
“The atmosphere is brilliant with all the spectators and competitors.
“We raised just short of £6,000 for local charities last year, which is amazing.”
