A SIX-figure investment will see a Bognor Regis town centre pub brought back to life.
The historic William Hardwicke is set to re-open with a bang thanks to a major investment of more than £100,000.
Star Pubs & Bars, Heineken’s pub business is ploughing in the funds as part of a joint refurbishment of the landmark High Street pub with its new operator Alan Frith.
Mr Frith said: “I’ve had my eye on the William Hardwicke for a number of years and was delighted when it became available.
“It is a brilliant pub, in a fantastic location and is known for being the best in Bognor Regis.
“It’s a great place to start and I am hoping that my team will be able to make the William Hardwicke even better.
“We want the pub to be a place everyone in the community can use and enjoy, whether its shoppers and workers wanting a coffee or a snack or people looking for a good meal out or just a great place to meet for a drink or have a fantastic night out.”
Mr Frith, who for the last four years has run the Vestry and the Fountain in Chichester, hopes he will be able to extend the emphasis on quality at these two pubs to the William Hardwicke.
Funds are being spent on restoring the premises as well as redecorating inside and out and installing new furniture.
A complete refit of the pub’s kitchen will enable the establishment to extend the food it offers.
Food will be served from 9am to 9pm including breakfast, lunch and dinner.
An experienced head chef has already been recruited and food will be freshly prepared on the premises using locally-sourced ingredients wherever possible.
After 9pm, Mr Frith plans to build on the pub’s reputation for night-time entertainment with live bands and international DJs.

The pub has been closed since November.
Work began this week and is expected to take around four weeks with the pub expected to reopen in mid April.
