Plea for new unit closer to patients

A RENEWED plea to help bring life-saving equipment closer for those in need in Bognor Regis has been made.

Pagham resident Anne Wood has repeated her request for support to bring a radiotherapy unit to St Richard’s Hospital in Chichester.

“We are desperate for this equipment.

“We are right in the
middle of the units at the Portsmouth and Brighton hospitals,” she said.

“It is too far for patients to have to travel every day for
six weeks.

“We badly need a unit at
St Richard’s, it would make life so much easier for those who badly need it,” added
Mrs Wood.

Mrs Wood urged as many people as possible to write to the chief executive of Brighton Hospital, Matthew Kershaw, to highlight the importance of a unit coming closer to patients across the area.

Mrs Wood has been fundraising for a number of years towards the cost of the unit. She asked the Bognor Regis and District Chamber of Commerce for their support at their meeting last month.
