THERE will be more watery fun to be had as a Bognor Regis club gets the go-ahead for a new ramp.

At their meeting members of Arun District Council’s development and control committee gave their unanimous backing to the new launching ramp planned for Bognor Regis Yacht Club in Victoria Road South.

Speaking in support of the ramp at the meeting, Arun district and Bognor Regis town councillor Jim Brooks, thanked everyone for their support.

“I am really pleased there is universal support for this
project and the few little issues we had have been ironed out.

“The ramp will add to the already extensive activities and training at the yacht club and hopefully it will boost the town tourism.”

But Cllr Brooks did warn the use of jetskis and large power boats was not permitted on the ramp and said signs to advertise this may
be needed.

Committee member Andrew Evans said: “I fully support this new ramp. It will be an excellent addition to the facilities at
the Bognor Regis
Yacht Club.”

The club has received £47,167 from the Sport England Inspired Facilities Fund and £2,833 from Bognor Regis Town Council towards building a replacement launching ramp. The project will have a final cost of around £70,000.

The original ramp was built in the 1980s.
