NEW homes are being planned for the centre of Yapton.
Prime Securities wants to build 17 houses and one flat on land at Kings Close.
The company has asked Arun District Council to approve its proposal.
The outline planning application is for one four-bed house, 13 three-bed houses, three two-bed houses and one two-bed flat.
A statement by Prime Securities says the location is suitable for development for family housing because it is in the built-up area.
It was ‘a scheme that respects the amenity of adjoining and future residents’, it states.
The housing would include ‘inclusive and sustainable access in and around the development with public transport links within walking distance’.
Initial drawings show the housing being built in a traditional style which is prevalent in the area.
“It is anticipated that the materials used will be locally and sustainably sourced wherever practically possible, featuring plain tile and slate roofs with facing brick and rendered walls.”
A total of 35 parking spaces will be provided.
The latest plan is the third for the site behind the shops on Main Road.
The front section of the plot received permission in 2010 for six houses and a shop.
The rear section gained approval in 2011 for 12 dwellings.
Features of those plans have been retained.
