Museum lines up lots of free festive fun for all the family
A range of free Christmas events for all the family is being lined up by Chichester district museum.
Starting on Wednesday, December 2, visitors can take part and win a prize in a fact-finding trail based on the traditional Twelve Days of Christmas song.
The Twelve Days of Christmas Museum Trail quiz will take place daily from Wednesday throughout the Christmas holidays and into the new year.
Cllr Nick Thomas, district council portfolio holder for culture and sport, said it was a wonderful way for families to enjoy a free day out and explore the museum's vast collections.
"Simply follow the trail and try to find the objects included in the song. If you can't remember the words, don't worry – they are printed on the quiz. Once you've completed the trail, take your form to the museum reception to claim your prize," he said.
The lyrics in the Twelve Days carol refer to the 12 days after Christmas ending on January 6. Twelfth Night was traditionally a time for celebrating, feasting and playing tricks.
On Saturday, December 5, visitors can join staff for Christmas at the Museum, celebrating Christmas in days gone by, from the Romans to the second world war.
Cllr Thomas said: " As well as having the opportunity to explore the mysteries of Roman Saturnalia, meet the curators and handle Victorian toys from the collection, families will be able to make their own sugar mice and Christmas crackers. Free mince pies and family craft activities will also be available. All activities are free, making this a marvellous day out not to be missed."
