BOBBLE hats and tea cosies were to the fore at a Bognor Regis charity shop.

The Age UK branch marked the organisation’s winter campaign by staging a two-day fundraising event to show the importance of keeping warm.

They staged a tombola and a cake sale last Friday and Saturday to bring in a hoped-for £300 to beat last year’s event. The total was helped by a pound-for-pound matching commitment from the town’s Barclays Bank.

Shop manager Vicky Barratt said: “It’s important people recognise they have to keep warm in winter. There are thousands of deaths every year from the cold.”

The London Road shop also contains a wide range of information leaflets about topics from funerals to insurance.
