Hundreds caught without a TV licence in Bognor Regis

MORE than 270 people were caught watching TV without a valid licence in Bognor Regis in 2011.

TV Licensing has revealed the number among the 2,500-plus who were caught watching television illegally across West Sussex. The estimated evasion rate remains steady at around the five per cent of the past five years.

Pauline Gillingham, TV Licensing’s spokeswoman for the south east, said: “On behalf of licence fee payers in Bognor Regis, we are committed to tackling evasion and enforcing the law among the small minority who should pay, but don’t.”

People were given every chance to pay but would be prosecuted if they failed to do so.
