A FRIENDLY hockey match brought Bognor Regis closer to its French twin town.
After enjoying a week-long holiday at the town’s Butlin’s resort the group of school children from Bognor’s twin town of Saint-Maur-des-Fossés ended their trip on a high with a five-nil win.
The French hockey players were joined by junior members of the Bognor and Middleton Hockey Club for the friendly game of hockey staged at The Arena in Westloats Lane.
The game was an active one, with the French players showing-off their skills and beating the competition.
After the game, a fond farewell was bid to the visitors with local players saying they hoped they would be able to visit Saint-Maur-des-Fossés in the near future to extend the friendship.
Another highlight of the visit was a cream tea party hosted by member of the Bognor Regis Twinning Association.
The town established its first twinning links with the French town, which is just 14 km south of Paris, in 1979. Saint-Maur-des-Fossés is situated on a bend of the river Marne.
The visit was the latest of many between the two areas. Bognor is also linked with Weil am Rhein and Trebbin, both in Germany.
