RESIDENTS have been asked to lend a hand and help commemorate the first world war.
People across the Bognor Regis area have been asked to help commemorate the war’s centenary.
Arun District Council, in partnership with the Littlehampton Academy, is launching a special competition.
They want as many people as possible to get creative and write a short poem or draw a picture that helps others think about and remember what happened during world war one.
The entry could be a message of peace, a reflection on the impact of war or a poignant and personal story from real life or your imagination.
There are no restrictions on age, entries should be no more than 500 words and be entered by April 18.
Each submission will be scored by a panel of independent judges and the overall winners’ pieces will be included in a replica edition of a world war one newspaper being produced by Arun District Council.
This special edition will be sent to every household throughout the district to coincide with the 100th anniversary on August 4.
For further information and to submit an entry contact Phil Graham on 01903 737920 or e-mail firstname.lastname@example.org.
The council would also like to hear from anyone who has any stories, diaries or photographs about the war which related to the Arun district.
