Golf teams scramble for memorial shield

A total of 51 members from Pagham Beach Club took over the Tower Course at Chichester Golf Centre, Hunston on Saturday, October 30, and played a 17 group Texas Scramble competition.

They competed for a trophy and their name to be inscribed on the prestigious and dedicated Chris Riley Memorial shield which is in memory of 'local boy' Chris who sadly died two months ago.

The winning group was Peter Knopp, Bill Carter and Bob Shaylor, who were each presented with a trophy – they posted a score of two under par.

The golfers returned to the Pagham Beach Club to a sumptuous barbecue, buffet and live music generously put on by Ken Harvey, the club owner and competition organiser.

The trophy presentations were made during the evening.

The weather was very kind and everyone enjoyed the day.
