Glider crashes at Sussex airfield
TREES saved a crashing glider pilot from electrocution at a Sussex airfield.
The plane's plunge earthwards was stopped by branches only inches from power cables in the miracle escape on Saturday (November 7).
Rescue services say he suffered only minor injuries in the crash at Parham Airfield near Storrington just after 11.30am.
The plane ended up in a tree with its nose pointing towards the ground.
The man was flying solo at the time and no-one else involved in the accident.
A spokeswoman for the West Sussex Fire and Rescue Service said: "Where he landed he was inches from the electricity lines.
"He was checked over by the medics but he was OK and he didn't require hospital treatment.
"It seems he had a very lucky escape."
