Funding to help more families

ALMOST £100,000 could be spent on helping families with problems in Bognor Regis and Littlehampton.

Arun District Council’s cabinet agreed to back the Think Family programme to support families to make positive changes to their lives.

The decision at the cabinet’s February meeting means the council backs putting up to £96,000 towards the programme’s work in Pevensey and Orchard wards and the Trees estate.

Roger Woods, Arun’s head of neighbourhoods, said: “All this work really does go to assist the council in achieving its aims of helping families who need support.”

The programme is run by West Sussex County Council. After almost two years, 137 families in Arun have been helped out of 782 across the county.

The scheme operates by caseworkers helping families achieve their own solutions. Their problems can include addiction, mental health and domestic abuse.
