Foodbank now in Yapton

FOODBANK volunteers have expanded their services into Yapton.

A weekly opening is taking place in the village by the helpers behind the Bognor Regis Foodbank.

The sessions are being staged from 2pm to 4pm on Wednesdays at Yapton Free Church, next to Fontwell Flooring, on Main Road.Morning CAB sessions are held at the same venue.

Bognor Regis Foodbank joint co-ordinator Sandie Bolton said she was sure the demand for the service would grow from the one or two clients who had been seen in the initial weeks.

“We have opened in Yapton because there is a need for the foodbank there.

“We have had people coming down from there to Bognor for food and it’s a long way,” she said.

“Some people have been walking and others using public transport. It’s not easy for them.”

Clients receive three days of food, according to their size of household, in return for vouchers which they are given by health and social care professionals.
