The Environment Agency said it expects travel disruption on rural roads on Christmas Day.

A spokesperson for the Environment Agency said: “Heavy rainfall on already wet ground has caused water levels to rise through the Aldingbourne Rife. We do not expect any futher significant rainfall through Christmas Day. We will however, see water levels continue to remain high over the next couple of days.”

A flood warning is no longer in place for Bosham Stream, from West Ashling to Bosham including Churchfield stream.

Warnings are also no longer in force for The River Ems or Westbourne on the River Ems.

Reports coming into the Observer say there is still a lot of water on the roads.

A flood alert has been issued for Durford Mill to Midhurst, including Iping on the western Rother.

A spokesman for the Environment Agency said: “Water levels will continue to remain high around Iping and Stedham for the next 24 hours.

“We expect there will continue to be travel disruption on rural roads in to Christmas Day.”
