FIRE FILE: Three-year-old boy trapped in car

A THREE-year-old boy has been rescued from a locked car by firefighters.

The boy's father left his keys on the passenger seat of the car when it was parked outside their home in Mariners Close, Shoreham Beach, on Tuesday (June 30) morning.

Somehow the car became locked with the boy inside and firefighters were called to release him shortly before 9.30am.

Shoreham fire station watch manager Jon Simpson said: "When we got there he'd been in the car for about 40 minutes and we worked alongside the RAC in getting him out of the car.

"We got him out in five minutes.

"He was a bit hot and sweaty but fine. He was quite happy when he had a look around the fire engine and got to sit in the driver's seat."

Stranded

A disabled woman got her mobility scooter stuck on Shoreham Beach on Tuesday, June 30.

The woman had to call firefighters to help her after she got too close to the sea and became stuck on a sand bank.

Shoreham firefighters helped two members of the public to carry the woman, and her mobility scooter, further up the beach.

Bonfire

An out of control bonfire in a back garden had to be extinguished by firefighters on Wednesday (July 1) afternoon.

Firefighters were called to the fire in Rectory Road, Shoreham, shortly before 2pm and put it out using two hoses.
