ELTON John, Bruce Forsyth and Sammy Davis Jr are some of the famous entertainers sure to be mentioned at South Bersted’s church soon.

They are among those to have benefited from the musical expertise of Barbara Moore and Don Hunt.

The friends will be talking about their lifetimes in the music industry from 7.30pm-9pm on March 15 at the church on Bersted Street. Tickets are £6.50 on the night and £5 in advance from the church.

Don is a jazz pianist who worked with Morecambe and Wise, Mike Yarwood and Benny Hill as the house arranger and band leader with Thames TV.

He became Howard Keel’s musical director in the USA and counted Sammy Davis Jr as a client and friend.

In the UK, Don is Bruce Forsyth’s musical director of choice. and has worked with him for more than 30 years. Don conducted and arranged the Strictly Come Dancing band at Glastonbury Festival last year with Bruce. He will do the same at the 2014 Isle of Wight Festival.

Barbara was a lifelong friend of Dudley Moore, no relation, and the music for Beyond The Fringe was devised on her piano.

A vocalist with the 60s backing group The Ladybirds, and jazz pianist, Barbara worked as a composer and arranger.

One day, she helped a young singer called Reg Dwight who soon returned the favour on his first album as Elton John.
