POLICE have appealed for witnesses after a dog was attacked in Bognor Regis town centre.

Officers are seeking information to the incident outside the town’s Iceland store, around 3pm on Friday, February 7.

There was an argument between a man and a woman. During the course of this a dog, which was with them, was allegedly punched and swung by its lead.

A 47-year-old local man was later arrested on suspicion of causing unnecessary suffering to a dog, and was released on police bail until March 2.

The dog was taken to secure kennels with bruising from which it is now recovering.

Anyone who saw the incident is asked to contact Sussex Police on 101 or email 101@sussex.pnn.police.uk.
