MORE than 50 people attended a recent open day held in Barnham by the Arun West U3A.

Many of those who went along to the community hall were residents of the villages.

They came from Barnham, Westergate, Eastergate, Yapton, Middleton and Felpham.

Visitors were given a taste of the many interests covered by the University of the Third Age’s branch.

These include railway interests, talks, calligraphy, art workshops, local history, languages and games.

Group leaders and helpers were gathered in the building’s small hall to pass on information about their areas of expertise. Gill Haughey, of the branch, said: “The hall was attractively set out, with information set around the room and large doors opening on to a recreational field, looking most attractive on a sunny afternoon.”

More details about the branch from u3asite.org.uk/arunwest or 01243 584358. There is a modest yearly subscription.
