A COUPLE will pulling on their helmets and getting into the saddle, all in the name of a good cause.
Claire and Colin Nunn, from Bognor Regis, are both looking forward to taking on the Nightrider challenge.
The epic ride is a 100km cycle around London under the cover of darkness.
The pair will be undertaking their mission, along with others, to raise money for new swimming pool changing facilities for a special needs school in Portsmouth.
Claire said: “Being healthy and fit is a big part of our life and we try to get our children to be the same by encouraging them to join in.
“They regularly ride their bikes with us when we ride around the local harbour and countryside.
“This year in particular, I have decided to work hard at swimming.
“Being close to the sea, swimming is an important part of living here, hence why we are keen to take part and raise money for Redwood Park, in Portsmouth, through the Checkatrade Foundation.”
The pair heard about the event after Checkatrade’s managing director Kevin Byrne asked for cyclists to join him and his team.
The pair, who also work together at Aldwick Road’s Bradley Electrical, have been training hard for the ride which will take place overnight on June 6.
Claire said: “Colin has been smoke free for over a year now and is enjoying the benefits of it. Cycling has been a big part of that.
“We have both been training over the winter months and are welcoming the training together in the sunshine.
“I love a challenge and this I think will be – a 100km ride around the capital is hard enough but doing it at night I think will be even harder as, for me, sleep is essential.”
The Checkatrade Foundation is committed to raising £130,000 to fund replacement facilities at the school through a range of activities.
