A ONCE-threatened ramp in Bognor Regis is going from strength to strength.
Last year, partnership working between Bognor Regis Town Council and Arun District Council was successful in rescuing the Gloucester road ramp from certain closure.
At a recent meeting between officers of the two councils, the overwhelming opinion was it is a local facility with opportunities for further development.
The town council’s clerk, Glenna Frost, said: “It was very much touch and go for the jet ski ramp earlier this year when the town council decided to work with Arun to manage the facility.
“But the operator has been very successful in bringing back the business and we are all excited about its potential for the future.”
It was agreed the councils would continue with their work and the town council would manage the ramp for a further year with a view to considering a longer-term arrangement.
Alan Peach, head of finance and property for Arun, said: “It really is good news for Bognor Regis that by working together, Bognor Regis Town Council and Arun District Council have not only got the ramp operational again for this coming year, but will also be looking to try to secure its future beyond the end of this season.”
Both agree this one-year agreement is the beginning of what hopefully will be improved partnership working.
