AN INVITATION has been offered to married couples around Bognor Regis to re-affirm their vows.
The chance will be available at St Mary Magdalene Church in South Bersted at 5.15pm on February 8.
The church is joining with other venues across the UK to hold the ‘big promise’ event to try to set a new Guinness World Record for couples who re-take their vows.
The Rev Tim Crook, the church’s vicar, said: “Marriage vows are the most long-term promises we ever make - to love and care for someone else for the rest of our lives.
“They are a commitment to put someone else’s interests as equal to our own and they involve setting aside our own short-term ‘wants’ for long-term stability and satisfaction.
“For those that make them, they are ‘the big promise’.”
The event will begin with tea and registration at 4pm at the hall of the Bersted Street church. It will transfer to the neighbouring church for the ceremony and end with a glass of bubbly about 5.30pm.
Every married couple is welcome, but need to take their marriage certificate.
