JUGGLERS and acrobats could have a more permanent home in Butlin’s.
The holiday company wants to put up a temporary circus marquee on its site each summer for five years.
The 720sqm venue would be home to a range of traditional all-human entertainments and follows a successful trial last year.
It will be on site from the start of June to the end of September if plans sent to Arun District Council are backed. The marquee is next to the funfair between the Ocean and Shoreline hotels.
Circus shows take place between 1pm and 7pm and finish by 8pm.
Claire Elliott, of the company’s planning agents PWP Architects, said in a statement with the proposal: “These times are scheduled to avoid nuisance to both residential neighbours and guests of the resort.
“The Ocean Hotel has bedrooms overlooking the marquee site and, as a family holiday resort, any excessive noise would quickly cause guest complaints.
“Therefore, it is in the resort’s own interests, as well as having a responsibility to residential neighbours, for the sound levels from the marquee and other venues to be sensitively managed.”
