TEAM work has paid off with a mini-festival raising more than £1,000 for a hospice.
It was a joint effort as Yapton businesses The Maypole Inn and hairdressers Bilsham Barbers teamed up to raise £1064.46 for St Barnabas House Hospice.
More than 200 people attended the event at the pub earlier this month with various fundraising activities taking place, including some daring custom hair designs.
Event organiser and landlady of the Maypole Inn Wendi Parker said: “It was a really fun day and a great way to support a very worthy local charity. The sun came out which really helped and the barbecue was very welcome by all our guests.
“A big thank you to local bands – Noize Disturbance, Stealer, Dizzy Squirrels and Bryan Mead who also played on the day and local butchers, Merry Meats, who donated the meat.”
The Worthing-based hospice offers specialist palliative care to patients and their families. Neil Francis, community fundraising manager, said: “We are so fortunate to have such a committed and enthusiastic group of supporters like The Maypole Inn and Bilsham Barbers. Without their help in organising superb fundraising events like this and the support of our local community, we really wouldn’t be able to offer the unique and specialist care St Barnabas House provides.”
