The body of a woman found at Walberton on Sunday morning has been confirmed as that of Sandra Hall, who went been missing from her home in Aldwick.

Inspector Nick Bowman from Sussex Police said: “We have confirmed that the body of 57-year-old Sandra Hall was discovered yesterday in the village of Walberton.

“This is clearly very tragic news for her family and friends. Our thoughts are with them as they start to come to terms with their loss.

“We have spent the last four weeks examining all aspects of Sandra’s life to try to understand what happened to her and completed many different searches using police and volunteer resources. I am extremely grateful to all of the volunteer search teams, police officers and staff who worked long hours and at times in horrendous conditions in an effort to locate her.

“There were no suspicious circumstances linked to the discovery of her body and a full report has been submitted to the coroner.”

Sandra Hall went missing on February 3 prompting pleas from her family for information and police searches of the surrounding area.

Speaking on behalf of her family, her daughter Emma Cullingford said:

“Sandra touched and lit up the lives of so many people she met or befriended over the years in West Sussex, Lancaster and Cumbria.

“She was a generous, loving spirit, always prepared to go that extra mile to help and support others, despite the difficulties she had had for many years coping with her own bi-polar disorder.

“She is and will always be deeply loved by her family and her many friends, who so much wanted for her to be safe so that she could re-start her life with the care and support she needed to start flourishing again.

“We would very much like to thank the police for their unstinting work and support, as well as the volunteers who helped to look for Sandra. We are also much touched by the many messages of support and love received.

“Sandra’s memory lives on in all of us and we want people to feel uplifted by the special privilege of having shared life, love, laughter and tears with Sandra. We know she now has the peace she so much crave.”
