Bognor five-hour gun siege

A MAN threatened to use a gun on himself in a fire-hour stand-off in Bognor today (Tuesday, February 2).

Officers were called to the scene in Canada Grove at 12.15am this morning after receiving calls from concerned neighbours.

The man had locked himself in a bathroom and said he had a gun.

Specialist negotiators could not make contact with the man.

As there were fears for his welfare an armed response team forced their way into the bathroom.

Paramedics treated the man for minor self-harm injuries and he was taken to St Richard's Hospital in Chichester.

Canada Grove, which had been closed during the incident, was re-opened shortly before 6am.
