KNITTING needles click amid the chatter of a Bognor Regis group who have completed their first joint blanket.
The Craft Knatters are raffling the results of their creativity to raise funds for their meeting place of the Cloudhopper gallery.
The colourful prize is comprised of 48 7inx7in squares which have been put together by the up to eight members at the weekly sessions from 10.30am to midday on Thursdays.
Tickets cost £1 a strip from the gallery in the High Street. They have to be bought by May 30.
One of the Craft Knatters is Kathleen Eames, 81, of North Bersted.
“I’ve been knitting all my life,” she said. “It’s relaxing and you get something out of it which is very nice.
“Coming to the group is fun and it gets me out of my four walls. Chatting to different people makes my life a bit more worthwhile.”
Another founder member is Joan Pritchard, 67, of Aldwick. “Knitting is theraputic. It’s a good hobby and I like coming here because of the people,” she said.
Cloudhopper joint founder Su Cloud said the group would help to broaden the gallery’s appeal. “Our next venture will be to have evening talks every month on different subjects. The first will be about famous artists in the area,” she said.
