PRIZES have been awarded for the best gardens in Bersted.

The award-winners for this year’s Bersted in Bloom competition were presented with their certificates at Chalcroft Nurseries and Garden Centre.

The awards were made by Bersted Parish Council chairman Brian Knight.

The top front garden award was received by Janet Hogden. The runners-up place was occupied by Ann Canfer and Julie Insull was in third place.

Michelle White was highly commended for her plot.

The winner of the category for containers and hanging baskets was R Blunden.

Cllr Philippa Seager, of Bersted Parish Council, organised the competition.

She said: “Bersted in Bloom is an opportunity to add colour to our area which can be enjoyed by the local community.

“Also, it encourages bees as they love blooms. Judges love to see a gardener making the most of recycling and creating an eco- friendly garden.”
