Auction helps those affected by typhoon

KIND-HEARTED residents have helped a Felpham mum raise nearly £2,000 for typhoon victims.

The generosity saw those present make the charity auction held by Annette Alderson, in aid of those whose lives were wrecked by Typhoon Haiyan in the Philippines, a night of kindness.

Annette said: “The night was a huge success and was supported by many local residents offering high bids on various items.

“An example was the Thai meal for two offered by a local mum which went for £100.”

The total amount raised at the auction reached £1,805.30. Annette has forwarded this to the Disaster Emergency Committee to be sent on to the Philippines.

She has thanked The George pub for willingly hosting the auction last Saturday and Moonbeams Karaoke for providing the music for free.

Typhoon Haiyan wreaked havoc in the Philippines when it struck last November. It was the country’s deadliest typhoon on record with winds of up to 170mph. At least 6,201 people were killed.
