Aldwick woman’s charity auction boost

A SUCCESSFUL charity auction has taken an Aldwick woman close to her fundraising target.

Sue Adams was delighted to raise £2,308 at the recent event towards her goal of wi-fi and computer equipment for patients at St Richard’s Hospital in Chichester.

She said the auction featured 52 lots and 22 raffle prizes.

Every penny donated went towards her appeal to help patients in the hospital’s Graffham Ward and the Fernhurst Centre.

The amount took her total raised in less than a year to some £9,800 against the £10,000 target which she set herself.

The well-attended auction took place at The Waverley in Bognor Regis. Spirit FM’s Milly Luxford and Vicky Edwards entertained the crowd with their banter and repartee.

Sue thanked MJ Visual Systems for the loan of the microphone system, the Stewart Singers who sang before and during the interval and all local businesses and people who donated services and made bids.

Her late husband, Dave Adams, had lengthy spells in St Richard’s being treated for acute myeloid leukaemia after he was diagnosed in February 2009. He died last June aged 50.

His times as a patient led Sue to realise how frustrating life can be for those in hospital without access to the internet.
