In total, 16 organisations in West Sussex have won funding in the latest round of grant-giving from the Sussex Community Foundation.

Among those organisations who were awarded grants were 4SIGHT, who received £1,500 to fund an outreach worker. The Bognor Vineyard Church Storehouse, an organisation that provides low cost and free furniture were awarded £4,000 to pay the salary of a co-ordinator, and Bognor and Chichester Voice received £2,000 towards the running costs of community group for people with learning difficulties.

Cancer Wise, a charity which helps people living with cancer was awarded £4,700 to pay for therapists and counsellors.

Mary Carruthers, grant manager, said: “It’s been evident from recent grant applications that the smaller community groups that we tend to fund are struggling harder than ever to keep afloat in the current economic climate, so we are thrilled to have been able to give out such a large pot of cash this time around.”
