AN EMPLOYEE at an Aldwick pub has received an award as an apprentice.
Lee Hill received his team-leading apprenticeship qualification from his employer, Spirit Pub Company.
Lee, 21, is the deputy general manager at The Martlets on Aldwick Road.
He was among more than 90 apprentices who were officially recognised at a special awards ceremony at Alton Towers.
He said: “I’ve thoroughly enjoyed the apprenticeship. Being able to learn while I work was definitely a key draw for me, allowing me to learn new skills while also building on my practical experience.
“I’m looking forward to taking on my next apprenticeship and continuing my development.”
Lee was promoted to his present role two months ago and has worked for Spirit for just over two years. The apprenticeship which he has completed was a 12-month learning and development programme which included on-the-job training, individually-tailored learning and one-to-one support. It results in a qualification equal to five GCSEs.
Mark Peters, the head of learning and development for Spirit, said: “It takes commitment, dedication and determination to complete an apprenticeship and Lee has shown that he has what it takes to progress.”
