Kick the habit for good with support from team

SMOKERS in the Bognor Regis area are being encouraged to put out the habit for good in 2013.

Arun Wellbeing is encouraging smokers to join its Q Club (Quitters’ Club) Stop Smoking and Exercise Project after a study released this week by the British Journal of Psychiatry showed smokers who successfully quit feel less anxious afterwards.

Leader of Arun District Council Cllr Gillian Brown said: “One of the side effects from nicotine withdrawal is edginess, which is why many smokers feel they need another cigarette to top up the nicotine and relieve that anxious feeling.

“It’s like a vicious cycle, but one which this study suggests could be broken by quitting smoking altogether. Arun Wellbeing can support you in doing that.”

The Q Club provides smokers with three months’ worth of free activity, such as swimming, gym sessions or exercise classes, at venues throughout Arun to help cope with some of the difficulties associated with kicking the habit.

The Wellbeing team can only accept participants in the project until the end of January. Contact them on 01903 737862 or info@arunwellbeing.org.uk
