Help to kick the habit is on hand in Bognor Regis

SWAP your fags for swag on Stop Smoking Day.

What would you do with £2,405? That figure is the yearly cost of smoking twenty cigarettes a day – the price of a five-star holiday, a new boiler, or even a designer wedding dress.

The Arun wellbeing advisers will be at Bognor Regis Library on Stop Smoking Day – March 13 – together with NHS nurses, to urge smokers to improve their health and their wallet.

Roger Wood, head of neighbourhoods at Arun, said: “We would urge all smokers to try to kick the habit, mainly for health reasons, but also because cigarettes are expensive.

“Quitting smoking will help to give you a healthier body and a healthier bank account so it’s worth thinking about what you could spend that saved money on.”

According to the health profile 2012, 16 per cent of adults in the district still smoke so advisers will be on hand to give advice about quitting, as well as information about healthy eating, exercise and social activities in the area.
