A MODEST health worker from St Richard’s Hospital has been praised for her devotion to the job.

Linda Love, a specialist occupational therapist in Chichester, was named the hospital trust’s employee of the month in September.

The 43-year-old is one of the team providing support to hospital patients who need help to maintain their mobility and independence, following an illness or surgery.

Her efforts with patients nearing the end of their lives prompted colleagues to nominate her for wider recognition after Linda spent extra time with her patients, sometimes working well into the evening, to ensure everything possible was done to grant their dying wish to spend their final days at home.

A hospital spokesman said she would find practical ways of overcoming obstacles, such as difficulties getting stretchers into a house or the challenge of physically supporting a patient who was no longer able to sit upright.
