A CHARITY paddle race will take place on Sunday to raise money for the Sussex Snowdrop Trust.
The Wittering Charity Paddle Race starts at 1pm from Shore Road (on the beach at East Wittering) and ends at West Wittering Windsurf Club.
Competitors can use surfboards, stand-up paddleboards or kayaks at the event, which raised £2,450.
The race has been running for nine years, and this year’s event includes a t-shirt and barbecue in the entry fee of £15.
Registration starts at 11.30am on the beachfront end of Shore Road in East Wittering. If the wind is over 15 knots, it will run from West Wittering beach - check www.2xs.co.uk or shoresurfclub.blogspot.com
on Saturday, or call 01243 513077.
To download entry forms and sponsorship forms, log on to www.2xs.co.uk or head to West Wittering Windsurf Club or the Drift Inn at East Wittering.
There will be prizes and medals for the winner of each category.
“We have safety cover on the water from Martin Gillam PUMA safety, David Piper and West Wittering Estate Lifeguards and West Wittering Windsurf Club,” said Simon.
“We are hoping to raise lots of money for The Snowdrop Trust who care for terminally sick children and their families and we believe need all our support.
“If you want to come along and watch the event, West Wittering Beach will be the best place to watch the finalists – you have to pay the parking fees to the car park and it will be located close to the windsurf club when you come into the beach.
“We will be having a barbecue at 2pm for non-competitors and competitors and will be accepting donations for the barbecue and appreciation of the good music again for The Snowdrop Trust, organised by the crack BBQ team Dicky and Sandy Dale and Mr and Mrs Chipps.
“This year there will be live music from the Chichester Music Academy from around 2pm, while the barbecue is running at the finish line at West Wittering Estate.”
The event is supported and sponsored by West Wittering Windsurf Club, Shore Surf Club, 2XS, X-Train, Wittering Surf Shop, West Wittering Estate, Prosport Sunscreen, Indo Board, RRD, The Landing, The Lamb Inn, The Old House at Home and BSUPA.
