HISTORIC buildings around Bognor Regis which are in danger are being noted for the first time.
Arun District Council is compiling its initial heritage assets at risk register.
This will use English Heritage guidelines to identify all those structures considered to be in a poor condition.
There are 16 conservation areas around Bognor out of 29 in the district. Each has been chosen for the contribution it makes to the district’s character, appearance and attractiveness.
One of the areas covers The Steyne and Waterloo Square.
Arun councillor Dougal Maconachie has lived in The Steyne for several years with his wife and fellow councillor, Jacqueline.
He said: “Conservation areas are very important. They are the historic footprint for the town.
“We enjoy living here and the fact it is an attractive square which is close to the sea and the town centre is one of the reasons we chose our house.”
The consultation about the areas lasts until February 27.
