A LIFE in photographs has been captured by Middleton’s Hal Brooks.
Hal, well-known as Kerby Drill the clown, has put together some 200 black and white and colour snapshots of his life.
Our Life’s Work features him and his late wife, Deena, as well as many of his artistic creations.
Hal, 92, said: “It brought back a lot of memories going through these photographs.
“They are a good record of what Deena and I got up to. The book has a bit of everything in it. Being entertainers, there were always photographers about capturing what we did.”
Yapton Road resident Hal and Deena – who died two years ago aged 86 – were the first children’s entertainers when Butlin’s opened in Bognor Regis in the early 1960s and were known as Auntie and Uncle.
Hal also helped to start the international Clowns’ Convention in Bognor some 30 years ago.
But he also has a long list of other talents. They include being a woodworker, artist, sculptor and author of a previous book.
He passes on his art skills as an instructor with the town’s branch of the University of the Third Age.
