A BLOOMING beautiful effort by youngsters has been celebrated in Bognor Regis.

The winners of Bognor Regis Town Council’s School Wheelbarrow competition have been unveiled.

With some 20 schools entering competition was fierce, but Bishop Tufnell C Of E Infant School scooped first place with their colourful display based on the book The Lighthouse Keeper.

Second place went to the eco-team from Rose Green Infant School, third to the reception class from Barton Infant School and fourth to Bishop Tufnell C Of E Junior School’s gardening club. The awards were presented by town mayor Paul Wells.

Cllr Wells said: “I am very impressed with what I have seen today. The youngsters have done a fantastic job and it is great to see them passionate about getting involved with gardening.”

The pupil’s green-fingered efforts will be rewarded with vouchers, which will hopefully be used to further their gardening.

The wheelbarrows will be given pride of place when judges from the South and South East in Bloom visit the town.
