GRANTS worth more than £900 have been presented by Bersted Parish Council.
The cheques were handed out by the council’s chairman, Patrick Hastings, before its latest meeting.
They went to the 1st Bersted Brownies (£225), Bognor Regis Armed Forces Day (£150), Cat and Rabbit Rescue Centre (£100), Cruse West Sussex (£250) and Tuesday Toddlers and Talks (£200).
David Hewings, one of the armed forces day organisers, said the money would help to pay for a flypast by a Lancaster bomber from the second world war.
This year’s event, on June 23, would also feature ceremonies to recognise the Arctic convoy and Bomber Command veterans.
“It’s as important as ever to remember them,” he said.
