HUNDREDS of children wore their pyjamas to school – all for charity.
round 30 schools and preschools in the county took part in a Jim-Jam-Athon last Friday (April 26) organised by the St Richard’s Hospital-based Love Your Hospital Charity.
“Many parents we meet at St Richard’s wanted to ‘give something back’ to their local hospital so involving their children was a great way to do this,” said one of the organisers, Nicola Godwin.
“By wearing their jim jams for the day, at school, they were helping our special patients have a better night’s rest in hospitals.
“The money raised will go towards St Richard’s special care baby, children’s wards, cancer services and elderly care wards.”
Nicola and Lesley-Anne Lloyd of Love Your Hospital Charity had a great time visiting schools near the Chichester hospital beforehand, to tell them about the PJ marathon and explaining to pupils what the money would be spent on.
“This was rewarding for not only the children but for us, each school was extremely welcoming and supportive to the hospital and we thank them for the bottom of our hearts for taking part in this campaign.”
