Fire caused small explosion in Felpham

AN ELECTRICAL fire caused a small explosion in Felpham.

West Sussex Fire and Rescue Service were called to the small blaze in an electrical sub-station opposite Wansford Way yesterday (Thursday, June 6) after reports of the explosion.

The two crews from the town’s fire station arrived at 6.33pm and quickly got to work.

Using a dry powder extinguisher they quickly doused the flames.

Firefighters made sure the area was safe before handing the incident over to an electricity board representative.

They left the call at 7.23pm.

In the early hours of this morning (Friday, June 7) firefighters were called after cars parked in Hawthorn Road, Bognor Regis were deliberately set alight.

Firefighters arrived at 1.29am and using two hose reels and two breathing apparatus fought the flames.

One vehicle was completely destroyed by the fire and the second 50 per cent damaged by the flames.

After making sure the area was safe the crew left the incident at 2.22am.
