FIREFIGHTERS rushed to a North Bersted home after reports a blaze had broken out.
Two crews from the town’s fire station, plus a command unit and two more crews from Chichester attended the fire in Winston Crescent on Tuesday, June 4.
Firefighters arrived at 7.51pm and set to work fighting the accidental flames using six breathing apparatus and four hose reels.
Some 50 per cent of the detached bungalow’s roof and 20 per cent of its ground floor was damaged by the flames.
Another 50 per cent of the homes’s ground floor was also damaged by heat and smoke.
After bringing the flames under control, firefighters removed roof tiles to access roof space. A thermal imaging camera was then used to check for hots spots before leaving at 9.08pm.
