AN EASTERGATE father and son will be jumping together for charity.

David and Barrie Bland will leap from thousands of feet above Nether Avon in Wiltshire on September 11 for the British Limbless Ex-Serviceman’s Association.

David, 77, has been a member of BLESMA since 1955 and has benefited from its help.

He said: “They have looked after me since I came out of the Army with a 40 per cent disability. They are fantastic. They look after people from when their disability starts to their deathbed.”

David, who lives at the family business of the SPR Centre on Fontwell Avenue, was a training instructor corporal in the Wiltshire Regiment for his national service when he suffered the loss of an eye.

“It’s the first time Barrie and I have ever done a parachute jump. It’s about time I put something back into BLESMA and it’s going to be more fun jumping together,” he said. Donations to 01243 542815.
